A New York state lawmaker is attempting to make it illegal to cross the street while listening to an iPod, or similar device, pointing to the deaths of a number of people who were run over while humming along to Mos Def or the Dixie Chicks. Has it crossed the Senator, one Karl Kruger, that those people's downfall might rather have been not looking where they going, or a wholesale ignorance of the Safe-Cross Code, or whatever its Yank equivalent is? Strangely, Kruger's proposed law would apply only to cities of one million people or more, as if pedestrians don't get involved in accidents in small cities.
